CPS Position On The Djibouti Declaration:

CPS Press Statement
Cairo, Egypt
November 27, 1999

With the agreement signed between Sadiq Al-Mahdi
this last Thursday in Dijibouti with the head of
the NIF regime, the Umma Party placed itself outside
the consensus the NDA constructed for more than ten
years.

The danger of this step is that it occurred in the
time NDA Partners with all their forces had been
striving to develop the comprehensive political
solution in its final shape and the 6th of this
next December has been assigned a date in Kampala
for that purpose.

The Umma party has taken this unilateral step with
no mandate from the NDA and without consultation
despite repeated obligations to abandon partial or
unilateral solutions.

At the time that the efforts of all NDA Partners at
home and abroad have been intensified to strengthen
the NDA unity on the path of the comprehensive
political solution, the Umma Party held its agreement
with the NIF head of regime in a step that can only
be seen as an attempt to destroy the NDA unity to
lend a new breath to the bloody regime that is about
to die.

The SCP in full rejection and condemnation to the
context of the agreement and the way it has been
established, calls upon all NDA Partners to adhere
closely to the NDA unity and to convene an emergency
meeting to take the right steps in accordance with
the NDA's stable tradition and rules.
