Message of condolence from Prof Sondra Hale
Dear Friends,
I have been away from my computer for some days, so I just found out about the passing of Prof. Farouk Kadoda, my good friend and the great love and partner of one of my closest friends--Asma El-Sony. I am feeling a great deal of grief, but wanted to write and give my condolences to his comrades and friends on this list. I know you will all feeling his passing profoundly. Not only will we all feel it personally, but his death is a great loss to progressives forces in Sudan.
My memory of Farouk will be one of fondness for his wit, his great storytelling, his profound political/economic analyses, and his political commitment. I know he will be remembered by all of us--always.
If there is a heaven, then we surely know that Farouk is there. And while he is there, he will be trying to organize the angels into a union or a party. He will gather them all and keep them up all night, telling them humourous stories and passing on wise saws and modern instances about life in Sudan. When Farouk finishes his first day and retires to his cloud, the angels will all look at each other and say, "Look at this wonderful man ! Perhaps we have been misjudging Sudan all these years."
My deepest condolences to all of us.
Sondra
